Luanda, 04/22 – Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Tuesday in Luanda, received in audience the Cameroonian musician, Manu Dibango, who praised the Government’s effort in favour of national reconstruction and improvement of the populations’ living standards.
During the audience, Manu Dibango, who has been in the country for a week, offered the president a saxophone, the music instrument he uses most.
Speaking to the press at the end of the audience, the musician said Angola he is coming back to after 26 years, has started to enjoy light, as suffering is coming to an end and the emergence of opportunities to everyone is beginning to appear.
He also expressed the satisfaction to see a country where the citizens see culture as an “important vehicle towards development”.
Speaking on the president, he said Jose Eduardo dos Santos is “a calm, and serene man who knows to listen.”
Emmanuel N´djoke Dibango, who performed three concerts in Luanda, was born in 1933, in Douala, Cameroon, where he is considered as a golden voice.
Graduated as a classic piano player, the musician started his career in Brussels (Belgium) and Paris (France) in the 1950’s. He later became celebrated with the album “Soul Makossa”, but plays such other styles as soul, reggae, jazz, blues and electro.

Luanda, 22/04– Le Président de la République, José Eduardo dos Santos, a reçu mardi, à Luanda, en audience, le musicien camerounais, Manu Dibango, qui a salué les efforts du Gouvernement angolais au profit de la reconstruction nationale et de l`amélioration du bien-être de la population.
Durant la rencontre, Manu Dibango, qui séjourne depuis une semaine au pays, a offert à José Eduardo dos Santos, un saxophone, son instrument musical préféré.
Se confiant à la presse au terme de l`audience, le musicien camerounais a dit que l`Angola qu`il visite après 26 ans, commence à voir la lumière, la souffrance est train de se terminer et il est visible les opportunités pour tous les citoyens.
Il s`est, d`autre part, dit satisfait de trouver un pays où les citoyens qualifient la culture d`un vecteur indispensable pour le développement.
Quant au profil du Président Dos Santos, le musicien a affirmé : "que c`est un homme calme, tranquile et qui sait écouter".
Emmanuel N´djoke Dibango, qui a déjà réalisé trois spectacles dans la capitale angolaise, est né en 1933 à Douala, au Cameroun, où il est considéré comme la voix d`or.
Formé en piano classique, Manu Dibango a débuté sa carrière musicale à Bruxelles et à Paris, vers les années 1950.
